It will help your boots maintain their shape, which is crucial for your comfort. You should set them roughly in the same position as you do for skiing.
Skis and snowboards alike call for cool, dry storage. Avoid periods of direct sunlight which can lead to warping and the melting of wax. Be sure to store your equipment outside of a ski or board bag. Trapped moisture and extreme temperatures are not good for your equipment.
A helmet’s job is to break when impacted; they aren’t glass slippers so if you simply drop it from a low height you’re probably ok.
